Angel of the Circuit Board

Angel of the Circuit Board

Dido Ridgehorn has her perfect job. As a Rogue Processor Investigation Executive for the Royal Society for the Protection of Artificial Intelligences, she is tasked with acting as an advocate for A.I.s that are being abused or mistreated – after all, a cappuccino machine is for life, not just for Christmas. Dido has a swanky fifteenth story south-facing apartment, a dishy lady-killer surgeon boyfriend with a seductive smile, and all the technology she can shake a memory stick at.

When she discovers a new virus spreading through the A.I. community she is tasked to look after, Dido decides to investigate. But when she is infected with an alien nano-virus that transmogrifies itself from silicon based technology to carbon based life, she realises her own existence is in peril.

Pursued by Interplanetary Customs and Excise (the men in charcoal grey) Dido flees Earth to seek help from her uncle Seymour. Dr Seymor Data is a professor of Quantum Intelligence, currently on the planet of Damona Carona, and deprived of liberty within the Psychiatric Hospital for people with Extra-Terrestrial psychosis.

Acting on information given to her by her uncle Seymor, Dido travels to the lawless space station, The Anaphase Bloom, where she meets the enigmatic and flamboyant Jonny Naylor, a Cosmic Sailor who has been incarcerated by the local gangster, Tara Dustwren. Dido discovers more about the nano virus she is infected with, and teams up with Jonny and his mysterious friend, Heartwood Bond. Together they learn of a plot to assassinate her Uncle Seymour. They escape the Anaphase Bloom in Jonny’s ship, the Lollapalooza, with a view to rescuing the learned professor.

Will Dido learn to live with her surgeon’s smooth operation? Can she resist Jonny the Cosmic Casanova? And can she finally learn to live with the alien nanovirus that swarms and multiplies inside her, transforming her in to something she could only dream of.
